Korea Anxiety: Why Stock Prices Continue to Languish

May 16, 2019 – James Lim, Senior Research Analyst at Dalton Investments, was quoted in the Financial Times, discussing the Korean equities market. “There is just a massive discount on the public equities market. We think it is between 30 to 50 per cent [and] the discount has actually been widening.” According to some analysts, there needs to be a rise in domestic shareholder activism combined with company and government reform in order to change the discount. Dalton Investments has around $200m invested in South Korean companies.
