Samsung and Other Asian Companies Will Profit from Electric-Car Demand. Will Investors Get on Board?

James Lim, Senior Research Analyst at Dalton Investments, was recently quoted in Barron’s, discussing the electric-car demand in Asia. Five of the top six electric-car battery producers are South Korean or Chinese, says Lim. All of the battery makers’ stocks have declined this year except Samsung SDI, which is up 7%. However, Lim predicts that electric-car battery manufacturing will turn profitable by early next year due to new EU regulations.
